It was a hell of a day of excitement yesterday! Obviously, as me being a big fan of the Baldur’s Gate saga and one of the most anticipated RPG games in 2020, smacks down the “Top Sellers” chart on Steam.

Yes, the Baldur’s Gate 3 is available on Steam as an Early Access.

As great as it felt when watching all the gigs decreasing while downloading, I felt a bit worried after clicking on the “Play” button.

The game crashed right upon launching. Damn! After cooling my head, I tried to solve the problem. And I did it! Here’s what I did to manage to run Baldur’s Gate 3.

Step-by-Step: Fix Baldur’s Gate 3 crash on launch.

Update GPU drivers

First, you may want to update your video card drivers. Whether you have an NvidiaAMD, or Intel GPU, get and install the latest ones. Doesn’t hurt to have them up to date 🙂

Verify Files Integrity

Solution: For me, it worked with Verifying the integrity of the game’s files. This feature ensures that all the game files are downloaded and installed correctly. To verify the files, go to Steam and Baldur’s Gate 3 game. Right-click on it and select PropertiesLocal Files, and then VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES…
The Steam app then scans all the files and re-download all the missing or corrupted ones. After this step, the game runs normally.

That’s it. I hope this helps anyone who struggles the same. If your game runs normally but rendering very low frames per second, it may well be that your PC or laptop is just up for the task, and you need a new machine. If you’re struggling to find the right one, here’s the guide I wrote about which laptop to buy for Baldur’s Gate 3.

Have fun playing the game.

Take care! 🙂
