HXML - A NEW APPROACH TO MANAGING HARDWARE INFORMATION

Abstract—Design reuse is demanding a new approach to describe hardware IP. Extensible Markup Language (XML) provides an advanced way to describe data using a simple, flexible standards-based format, and it enables the exchange of data by various CAD applications. Many characteristics of the XML language and its wide support make it a good candidate for the demand of hardware design reuse. The application of XML in the hardware design automation field ? Hardware XML (HXML)— is proposed in the paper. Pragmatic examples and potential implementations are also included.
